Congratulations to Padraig Harrington on becoming the first European Golfer to win two Major Titles Back-to-back, after his Superb win in Oakland Hills, Detroit.
Padraig carded two phenomenal rounds of 66 at the weekend to beat Sergio Garcia of Spain and Ben Curtis of The USA by two strokes. This is the second huge boost for Irish Golf this Summer following on from his spectacular Open Championship success in Royal Birkdale golf Links at the End of July. Padraig Harrington is now the third ranked golfer in the world.
Graeme Mcdowell also had a very solid week at the final Golf Major finishing in a tie for 15th and in the process secured his Ryder cup place on the European to team for the 2008 matches in Valhalla CC in Kentucky.
Harrington will take a week’s rest before embarking on finale of the Fed Ex Cup in the States and already is a shoe in for Player of the year honours on the PGA Tour after winning the last two Golf Majors of the Year.
Speaking to reporters after his triumph Sunday, he spoke of his eagerness for the next Major Installment at the US Masters in Augusta in April 2009. he had this to say following his back nine exploits in Detroit

On the Irish Amateur Golf Scene, Shane Lowry had his Third Major win of the season adding the Mullingar Scratch Cup to His Haul of titles this year. The Esker Hills Man is expected to remain amateur until at least after the Walker Cup Matches to take place next year.
