We are writing to inform you of the imminent launch of www.getkentunited.co.uk, an interactive website that will offer individuals the opportunity to invest in a non-league football club in Kent. At a time when many chief executives of our football clubs seem to be spending more time scouring the globe in order to spread their 'brand', fans are being priced out of the terraces and a gap has emerged between many clubs and their fans.

Nigel Farage, Leader of UKIP, has described the project as:

"an exciting initiative to create supporter-based football-club ownership and management, involving and empowering far more people, in a prominent aspect of social life, than does the present wealth-based system."

We aim to establish a club run by the fans, for the fans. The ownership model, recently applied by the myfootballclub website, allows the supporters to have a voice in all decision-making processes, as well as strengthening and reinforcing links with the local community. With the development of these links and the support of the fans, the football club will be truly representative of the community it serves.

It is our vision to create a club which becomes a real 'community hub'. The vision includes bringing qualified coaches into communities and schools, increasing opportunities for participation and strengthening links between the chosen club and its community. With the support and backing of the community it will be possible to create a 'role model club' that we can all be proud of, and hopefully the community won't be waiting too long until they can boast about having a Football League club on their doorstep.

How it works
Individuals subscribe for a membership year (costing only £30), with the majority of the fee contributing to an investment fund. They vote for their preferred takeover target (any non-league club in Kent) and when the target membership is reached (10,000), the most popular clubs will be approached regarding a fans takeover, with the investment fund being used to purchase the club. Every member will own an equal share in the club and will have the power to shape its destiny, being consulted through the interactive website on every decision to ensure the democratic running of the club. The members also decide on how to distribute the annual investment fund, whether they want to make a new signing, invest in youth facilities or instigate a new community initiative.

Footballs in the Community Scheme
To underline our commitment to football in the community we are proud to disclose details of our first initiative aimed at the grass-roots. Get Kent United Limited will be offering the 'Footballs in the Community' scheme. The scheme is open to all education facilities, businesses, and football clubs at any level within the county of Kent.

Once the institution has signed up for the scheme, any members can affiliate themselves with the institution when they sign up. For every five members that affiliate themselves with the institution, Get Kent United will provide that institution with one Mitre Calcio football.

The offer is open to all groups, ranging from 5 aside teams to professional clubs, from the local pub to national companies and from the village school to universities. We hope everyone can get involved! Depending on the success of this promotion, we hope to offer further equipment, such as training bibs, water bottles, cones and first aid equipment.

We were hoping to gain your support with this venture and, in particular, hoped that you will be able to help spread awareness of the 'Footballs in the Community' scheme. We would be happy to provide any further information that you may require and would really appreciate your support with this exciting new venture.

For further details please contact:
Nick Thompson
01303 210078
07814 448632
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
|
