Despite Englands failure to qualify for Euro 2008 a recent poll by DVD rental kiosk supplier The Movie Booth revealed a suprisingly large number of fans are still tuning in to television coverage. With Euro 2008 now in full flow, England’s lack of participation in the tournament was predicted to be a sore point for many die-hard fans which would lead to people tuning out from the tournament coverage. Despite this, a recent poll conducted by DVD rental kiosk supplier The Movie Booth shows that even though England aren’t taking part in the competition, a large number of fans are still tuning into the tournament. The poll revealed that 48% of respondent’s would still watch the tournament even though England weren’t taking part, and fans have been rewarded for their faith with a tournament which has come to life in the last week has seen more goals scored so far than any previous European Championship. Mitchell Leszczyszak, spokesman for The Movie Booth, said “We have been interested in the publicity the tournament has got without England being there. The BBC has been asking “Who will you support?” but we thought a more interesting question would be “Will you actually watch?”. With the good weather we’ve had and England not being involved we thought numbers would be hit, but as our findings prove the tournament is still proving popular with many fans”. England failed to qualify for the tournament after finishing third in their group behind Croatia and Russia. This led to several industries such as pubs and sports merchandisers fearing that they would lose money because of a lack of interest in the competition. For further information on the above release please contact Mitchell Leszczyszak on 0870 1436769 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
