| Replacing boilers with more eco-friendly models will have a major impact on a property's energy efficiency rating, says Elizabeth Brogan from the National Landlords Association (NLA). Replacing boilers with more eco-friendly models will have a major impact on a property's energy efficiency rating, says Elizabeth Brogan from the National Landlords Association (NLA). The senior policy officer from the NLA says landlords could also consider loft insulation and dry lining the walls, which is basically internal insulation. But she added that most people may be reluctant to do this as it is structural work and installing a more energy efficient condensing combination boiler may be an easier option. In May the NLA encouraged landlords to make use of the Landlord's Energy Saving Allowance (LESA) which is to be introduced in October. According to research carried out by the Sponge Sustainability Network some 52 per cent of people would to pay more for housing that meets environmental standards. The NLA is a body that supports residential landlords letting out property in the private sector. It has more than 13,000 members. Domestic & General provides boiler cover and repair protection for central heating systems. |
