South Suburbs Pastor Reaches Out to Ex-Offenders As They Seek to Turn Their Lives Around

Chicago,Illinois-- Jue 24, 2008 - Moses B. Herring, Pastor, proudly announces that Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood will celebrate its 6th Annual Prison Outreach Ministry, scheduled to take place at Calvary located at 801 Glenwood Dyer Road in Glenwood Illinois on Saturday and Sunday June 28-29, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. The two days will include aftercare and outreach training workshops on Saturday from 9:00 a. m. - noon for those who work with prison ministries, ex- offenders and their families.

 

On Sunday, June 29, following Calvary’s 10:30 a.m. morning worship services, an elegant awards recognition dinner will take place. The dinner will honor leaders who diligently work with prison ministries and the families of ex-offenders in the South Suburbs and the greater Chicagoland area, and those who help ex-offenders with their challenges as they gprepare to become productive citizens of our society. Awards are scheduled to be bestowed upon Leslie’s House and Ma Houston Adult Correctional Center.  Grace House and St. Leonard’s are special guests to receive recognition.

 

Reverend Bernice McClendon states, ‘We are looking forward to this exciting, uplifting and inspiring weekend of training, affirmation, and encouragement for ex-offenders, their families, and those who work tirelessly to help them as they seek to navigate their lives in the right direction. She further states, this weekend will be a blessing to all who attend, particularly the ex-offenders. Our mission is to convince them that they are loved and that they do matter.”

 

Reverend Bernice McClendon oversees Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood’s Prison Ministry, and is the ochestrator of this dynamic weekend. Reverend Moses B. Herring has been the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood since August of 2007. Under Pastor Herring’s leadership, mission, and vision, Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood’s membership has experienced tremendous growth.
