Summer camp will build memories that will last a lifetime.
Dayton, IA, April 07, 2008 --- Kids live hectic lives: school, sports, church, and friends all crowd out the time where kids should be kids. A time where kids can get a little muddy, ride a horse, swim in a lake, hike down a deer trail, or sit around a camp fire and talk about life. According to Earl Taylor, Executive Director at Hidden Acres Camp near Dayton, Iowa, "It is at camp that children are able to forget about their schedule, i-pods and video games and enjoy the moment of being near God's creation. It is at camp that children grow and mature in their perspectives and awareness of all that creation teaches." Camp is a teaching ground for social skills, outdoor skills, spiritual development, and team participation. Camp provides 5 to 6 days of intense interaction with a counselor and a cabin of bunk mates. It is during this week that many young people can begin a new beginning, or make decisions that will affect their adult life. According to Taylor, "Hidden Acres provides college age trained counselors that mentors kids with a positive influence. Counselors are selected carefully to provide an engaging, safe week for each boy and girl." At Hidden Acres, campers can participate in camps from Kindergarten through high school. In addition to the regular camps, Hidden Acres provides several specialty camps that include: paint ball, horse, basketball, wilderness, fishing, shooting, volleyball, rappelling, and green broke camp. Campers attend a 3, 5, or 6 day session with 300 other campers. They attend chapels twice a day, participate in small and large group games, enjoy lake and pool activities, and cabin time with their two trained counselors.
