A sizable cut in interest rates has perked up homebuyers in Leicestershire.

And one homebuilder is hoping to add to their buoyancy with a special open weekend at its development in Thurmaston.

Benfield Homes is holding a ‘make us an offer’ weekend at its Havelock Gardens scheme in Hadrian Road in a bid to allow local buyers to cash in on, what the company describes as, an ideal time to buy.

Benfield Homes is inviting potential buyers to visit the development on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 – from 11am until 5pm – in a bid to snap up one of the final four apartments in the first block at the scheme.

The first eight have already been reserved and Claire Drewett, sales and marketing manager for the company, said it was a ‘one-off’ chance for buyers to purchase before prices started to rise again.

She said: “We all welcomed the half-a-per-cent interest rate cut from the Bank of England along with the recent changes to stamp duty and we have already seen a reaction from buyers.

“I have been saying for a while that there is pent up demand – particularly from first-time buyers – and now there are so many incentives that there has never been a better time to buy.

“We want to galvanise that spirit here at Havelock Gardens and so are inviting potential buyers to come in and make a sensible offer for one of the final four apartments in the first block at the development.

“We are very willing to listen to offers and, if some fall just short, we will try to work with the party interested and will have information on schemes and incentives available to them that may make it possible to make their dream move here.”

Prices normally start at £127,000 for the two-bedroom apartments and Claire said prices would begin to rise again soon.

She said: “We are very proud of the quality of the homes here at Havelock Gardens – they are all finished to a very high-standard, in a parkland setting.

“All the evidence suggests that house prices will start to creep back up again soon so this could be the perfect time to make us an offer.”
