For most tourists, a vacation to Spain isn't complete until they see a Flamenco show. While there are many staged performances of this musical dance form, if you want to see traditional Flamenco, you should head to some of the smaller towns of Andalusia.

It is in these small towns where you can view first-hand, the mystery, passion and the marriage of song, dance and storytelling.

When planning a trip to Spain, try to find accommodation in Andalusia or Costa de la Luz Hotels hat are close to a few different towns or cities. This will give you the best chance to see traditional Flamenco. Since each town has its own version of the form, many of the songs performed have been named after their towns of origin. Song titles include Sevillanas (Sevilla), Malagueñas (Malagá) and Rodeñas (Ronda).True Flamenco is performed not only by those who have mastered the dance steps or who have learned the words to songs, it is performed by those with duende. While this term literally means 'goblin', it is the inspiration performers feel in their souls before they begin to dance. This inspiration is what ensures a great performance. Those watching Flamenco are inspired as well.

After arriving at your destination, pick up a local newspaper to find out more about local Flamenco performances. While most traditional performances are spontaneous, you may be able to locate a dance troupe that performs Flamenco on a regular basis. Most Andalusia hotels, as for example Hotels in Cadiz, have event personnel that you can ask as well.

In order to truly enjoy a Flamenco performance, you must be inspired by the performers. Impromptu performances are the best because the dancers, musicians and singers usually perform because of their love of Flamenco.

Even though the origins of Flamenco are still unknown, those who live in Andalusia have embraced it as their own. Being able to see a live show by performers with duende is a rare treat that you will remember forever.
