The Scots-born musician & State Registered Nurse came to the end of a 7-year hiatus from the music. Since then, his return to the music industry has been as dramatic as his departure from it.
Bob Findlay is a Scots-born musician & State Registered Nurse now residing in Tasmania. He returned to the music industry in 2007 in a recording capacity after a 7-year hiatus due to a long battle with alcoholism. Bob formerly played in Tasmanias’ top band until the mid-90s, but left basically due to cynicism towards the industry & also to focus on his Nursing career. During this period he was married & is the father of two children. He had a brief stint recording & playing acoustic gigs; quite a change from the band scene, however alcohol abuse led to his divorce in 2002. Bob played only a handful of acoustic gigs at major festivals and events after this as alcohol got the better of him (he never drank when he performed). In addition to this was the re-emergence of media & all that goes with the music 'scene'. Bob seemed more of a talking point being areclusive drunk than a sober performer. In April 2007 he moved to Stanley on Tasmanias' far North-West Coast after one too many hospitalisations. He took to recording again with the sole purpose of alcohol distraction but it has escalated rapidly and he is now receiving extensive and consistent airplay in commercial and internet radio stations. Late in 2007, Bob recorded 2 self-written & performed albums in as many months. The first, "Rough Edges" is entirely comprised of material written over a 20-year period. He did not officially release the album as he went straight on to record his second album, "Straight Lines', which contains 5 tracks written since sobriety. Bobs’ original music is, in varying degrees, akin to that of The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Warren Zevon, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. He is now focusing on selling his music in mp3 format due to time & financial constraints. He is soon to return to Nursing but would prefer to actively pursue his career as a musician instead as he feels that, not only is he capable of this, it has been a major factor in maintaining his sobriety. Bob has centralised all of his music to one internet site which can be located at www.reverbnation.com/bobfindlay where he is already outranking the likes of rock legends 'Metallica' and 'Queens Of The Stone Age'. He is also a featured musician on the "Support These Musicians" website http://musiciansupport.webs.com A comprehensive rundown on Bobs' life and musical career can be found on his personal website http://scotsbob.webs.com I feel that we're about to hear a lot more from this gutsy Scots rocker. |
