Surgery Figures Show Dramatic Rise In Breast Ops

Birmingham – 9th June, 2008 – A leading Solihull cosmetic surgeon and breast surgery specialist has reported a significantly higher growth in the number of women opting for breast augmentation in the West Midlands over the last year when compared with the national average.   CC Kat has seen a 62 per cent rise at her clinic in the popular operation, bucking the national trend which saw breast augmentation increase by just 6 per cent, according to the latest figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).  Mrs. Kat attributes some of the dramatic increase in her practice to her unique ‘tailored breasts’ approach.

According to CC Kat, consultant plastic surgeon and member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS):

“My approach to breast augmentation is very unique and personal.  I use an anatomical and measurable formula for advising patients on what will best suit them, taking into account their personal desires.  Rather than be completely led by cup size, which can be very inaccurate, I measure anatomical dimensions – taking into account the patient’s chest width, height and skin laxity.  The full range of implants are then discussed, so the patient can make a decision on round or teardrop shape, low, medium or extra high projections, depending on what they’re trying to achieve.  This is a consultative process which involves a bit of science, rather than relying on guesswork, to give the patients the result they want.”

Breast augmentation is still the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the UK.  Becky Tate, 34, of Solihull, had a breast augmentation in January of this year.  The mother of two says:

“I have always been small chested, but when I became pregnant my breasts grew and I really liked it.  After giving birth they disappeared again.  I was very self conscious if we went on holiday – quite frankly I felt pathetic in a bikini.  Mrs Kat was recommended by a friend, and I booked in for breast augmentation surgery, which I had on a Friday, and I was up and about making drinks at a christening on that Sunday!  I had no pain, which I’m sure is down to having a female plastic surgeon who is gentle.  I have gone from a 34A to a 34F and I feel much more in proportion.  My confidence has soared.”

CC Kat is one of the very few female plastic surgeons in the UK.  Specialising in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, she operates from Spire Parkway, Spire Little Aston Hospital, and Edgbaston’s Priory Hospital. She offers the full range of plastic surgery procedures from breast surgery and facial rejuvenation to body contouring.
