Despite Jade Goody receiving treatment for cervical cancer nearly a 1/3 of British women are still not having smear tests. A recent poll on leading women’s lifestyle website GoodtoKnow has discovered that almost 33% of women don’t act upon the smear test reminder letter that’s sent to them by their doctor or sexual health clinic. The poll also revealed that almost 10% of women have never had a smear test. Cancer Research recently commented on the national rates for smear tests: “The figures for women going for smear tests are not as good as we would like. An early diagnosis gives you the best chance of recovery, so make sure you go for a screening when you're invited.” Note to editors: GoodtoKnow is the first website just for the female mass market woman and covers womens health advice, food and diet amongst other topics. GoodtoKnow is owned by IPC Media in London The site editor is Jolene Akehurst: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , 0203 148 5000 |
