| The UK has announced that they are going to build two new aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy – to be named HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales. The carriers will be the largest and most powerful ever constructed for the Royal Navy and will provide British forces with world-class capabilities, supporting a wide range of operations including peace keeping and conflict prevention. Several of Nimlok’s popular Compact Pop-Up portable display stand solutions complete with display graphics were spotted at the significant signing ceremony on board HMS Ark Royal in Portsmouth. The UK Ministry of Defence signed contracts with industry to build the two future aircraft carriers. The contracts were signed with the newly-formed UK maritime Joint Venture, BVT Surface Fleet, and the Aircraft Carrier Alliance onboard one of the Royal Navy's existing aircraft carriers and currently the Fleet Flagship, HMS Ark Royal. The signing ceremony took place in front of the portable graphic display systems produced by Nimlok. You can see Ian King (BAE Systems CEO), Dr Andrew Tyler (MOD DE&S COO) and Archie Bethel (Babcock Marine CEO) pictured on the photograph. The graphic shows a computer generated image of one of the Joint Strike Fighters coming in to land on one of the new aircraft carriers. |
