London, September 2008 - Cycle Social, the UK cyclists' social network, launched its website earlier this month.  The
site, www.CycleSocial.co.uk, offers UK cyclists of all abilities and interests the chance to connect, blog, discuss, and
exchange ideas, photos and videos about all aspects of cycling. London, September 2008 - Cycle Social, the UK cyclists' social network, launched its website earlier this month.  The site, www.CycleSocial.co.uk, offers UK cyclists of all abilities and interests the chance to connect, blog, discuss, and exchange ideas, photos and videos about all aspects of cycling. The idea for the site was the brainchild of Simon Tucker who wanted to use the capabilities of a conventional social network but work with the target audience of UK cyclists only, so providing a vertical focus. "Cycle Social is a passion not a profession" says Simon. "Cycling is an activity that I adore, and as a regular commuter, cycling with many fellow riders each day as well as a recreation at weekends, I felt a need to create a community for cyclists across the country, particularly after the success at the Olympics as we move towards the London event in 2012.  I was really inspired by the achievements of Team GB's cyclists and the positive reaction from around the
country."

Sign-up to the community is free and membership offers benefits such as a dedicated personal blog where members are able to load images, videos and RSS feeds, write articles and make friends, so giving freedom to express their bicycle personality.  Once registered, members have access to the entire network where they will be able to, for example; create their own special interest groups or join others, contribute to the forum, advertise events or items for sale and invite others to sign-up. As well as individual members, cycling clubs and organisations are also welcome to sign-up to establish their presence, and will be able to create their own groups as a focal point for their activities, rides, news and more.

Simon adds: "It's very exciting to see new members join, to see them getting involved, commenting, creating, posting and making friends, and to see existing members expand their footprint on the site as they create new areas or get involved in others.  This is precisely what I intended the network to be, an organic, ever changing entity for the good of cycling across the country."

Cycle Social is currently running in its live beta version at www.CycleSocial.co.uk and is expected to launch further functionality towards its general release in the early part of 2009.  New members are welcome.
