Vaastu is an ancient science that comprises a set of detailed principles that govern the

design of human inhabitations. A science that was overlooked for ages, Vaastu is now back in

vogue. Vaastu is an ancient science that comprises a set of detailed principles that govern the

Let me make it clear at the very onset that I am no Vaastu expert. All that I am going to

share in this brief article are some prominent Vaastu tips that are easy to implement and

the ones that really work as I have experienced in real life.

East is the most auspicious direction for entrance to a house
The east direction is accorded great importance in India. Sun is worshipped as a God and

since it rises in the east, an east facing entrance is believed to welcome the positive rays

of the Sun right at the start of the day.

Avoid hanging pictures that depict violence or sorrow
Apart from Vaastu, this idea has a psychological perspective also. Once we hang a picture in

our home and we happen to see it daily, it leaves an impression on the mind. Therefore it is

always preferable to use images that are positive and relate to joy and happiness.

No television in the bedroom
This may be a tough one to implement. Most of us are so used to having television in our

bedrooms that we cannot do without it. However it has been observed that any reflective

object in the bedroom can lead to a rift between couples. With that in mind, it is indeed

prudent to shift your television to a more suitable place such as lobby or living

room.

Minimize clutter and dust in your room
Modern homes are often filled with clutter and unused objects. This is especially true when

there are kids at home. As per Vaastu, dust and clutter represent negativity and hence must

not find any place in the homes. Once in a month, you must take an inventory of your

household goods and dispose off all clutter. As far as dust is concerned, go for regular

vacuuming and use modern furnishing concepts such as decorative laminates and <a

clean look to your home.
