World championship of online poker to be hosted at Pokerstars

The World Championship of Online Poker begins September 5, 2008. The prize pool is a grand total of $30,000,000, double that of last year. There are 33 different events including Holdʼem, Omaha, Stud and many more. Every event has a guarantee prize pool with many prizes totaling more than $2,000,000. Last yearʼs main event winner was ʽ Ka$inoʼ with winnings of more than $1.3 million.

Hosted by PokerStars , this event will run for a total of 16 days, which makes this the seventh year the event will take place. PokerStars.com will be putting 1.5 million dollars in free entries in the form of freeroll tourneys for there most frequent players.

It starts with buy-ins as low as $7.50 or 500 frequent player points. Players making it in the top two places of a Step tournament win a ticket to the next one up. Step 6 is where it gets exciting. Five players get to battle it out for one of the three main seats in the WCOOP Main Event, which has a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000! Now remember, if you donʼt make it that far you are able to start at the same level or the one below it. Donʼt forget that you can also directly buy into any of the Step levels.
