Mr Bagels plc Executive Summary Prepared for the Media by Henry Hardoon FD- contact 07956877605 ‘Mr Bagels Plc scores with a hole in one’ 28th April 2008 for immediate release 1. History Mr Bagels Limited was founded in 1988 as a manufacturer of specialty bagels and is now entirely focused on large scale manufacture from its freehold factory and offices close to the 2012 Olympic Village in East London. It is now the second largest producer of bagels in the UK /EU and the only kosher manufacturer of its size. The company has grown steadily and now employs over 100 staff. Today Mr Bagels is one of Europe's leading bagel manufacturers and supplier of fresh ambient bagels and frozen bake-off to the retail and food service markets. It is based at a modern, state-of-the-art bakery, capable of producing in excess of 100 million bagels a year. Our customers include some of the major multiple retailers, as well as several bagel shop chains and a large number of leading food service suppliers. These include the large supermarket chains – Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury Asda and Marks and Spencer - but we are also penetrating the second tier food outlets. We manufacture for retailers own label brand, our own name and as sole exclusive bagel manufacturers for The Food Doctor. Our newly restructured sales team (headed by Director Mark Radberg) has secured many new important contracts. We are looking to grow our export markets in Europe where the long life products are well received. Mr Bagels stands at the cutting edge of both the bake-off and ambient bagel markets - leading the way in continuously developing new and exciting bagel products. We pride ourselves on offering the tastiest, highest-quality bagels in the market place. We sell 16 varieties of both savoury and sweet bagels and are constantly expanding this range. 2. Present Activities During the last 18 months there have been significant changes within the company. Senior staff appointments have been made. The integration of the company’s computing system with the major retail supermarkets means that we can now trace each day the precise number and variety of bagels sold per branch for each supermarket through out the country. We are therefore able to anticipate and react to market changes very quickly. After 20 years and as a result of focus group analysis the company decided to re-brand the product under the name of “The Natural Bagel Co.” and has diversified the variety of bagels and recently undertaken a major promotional launch at Tesco. Our production team (already working on three shifts) is to be expanded by the creation of a second production line in August 2008. Mr Bagels Ltd recently converted to become a plc and is shortly due to be listed on the PLUS section of the AIM market at the London Stock Exchange. Mr Bagels plc now holds around 25% of the UK market which is itself growing at 15-20%. We are looking to continue to expand our market share. New product ranges beyond the pure bagel range are in advanced planning. 3. Our Unique Selling Points3.1. Best bagel recipeThe bagels are produced to an original recipe and steam baked, giving them a lighter texture and an extra special flavour. The bagels are also frozen using a unique process which guarantees freshness and a consistently high-quality product. 3.2 Best bagel ingredientsCustomers who buy from Mr Bagels can be sure they are buying the best quality product. We use a substantial amount of Canadian wheat flour, milled to an exclusive formula. In fact, every one of the bagel ingredients is of the highest quality and manufactured to our own specifications. Mr Bagels' products are low in fat and cholesterol and full of energy and fibre. 3.3. Best baking processOur unique baking process is the result of many years of research. 3.4. The Food Doctor brand represents a significant part of our business. 3.5 CertificationMr Bagels has ISO and EFSIS Certification and is a member of FSHT and the Frozen Food Federation. 4 Future plans The company’s strategic plans are to:- (i) consolidate and grow its sales in all sectors of the retail market (ii) improve efficiency in that process by detailed attention to all aspects of customer service(iii) expand the product range (iv) build and market all the brands more creatively(v) build on the new team established, to drive these reforms through. Once the sales have been established we will actively seek a larger well located modern plant dedicated to achieving the new production targets we expect to set.
