Cloud storage requires a new approach to scalable NAS and file serving

CUPERTINO, CA – November 13, 2008 — ParaScale, Inc., a startup company developing cloud storage solutions for deep content archives and rich-media content in traffic-intense applications, announced today that the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Sajai Krishnan, will speak to attendees of Sys-Con’s Cloud Computing Conference and Expo about how to build a cloud storage architecture on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 5:20 pm at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.

Entitled “Architecting for Cloud Storage,” Mr. Krishnan’s 30 minute session will propose that cloud storage requires a new approach to scalable NAS and file serving. Existing architectures were built to satisfy enterprise file sharing and high performance computing environments. Mr. Krishnan will review different architectural approaches to building a cloud or massively scalable NAS system.  Enterprise IT managers interested in building a private cloud for their company’s own use, service providers looking to build public clouds to offer storage as a service, or any technology professional interested in evaluating cloud storage should attend this session.

“Cloud storage architectures vary significantly but few responsible for their development would argue that they all share one key similarity – the lowest cost per gigabyte or terabyte wins,” said Mr. Krishnan.  “This means factors like disk drive costs, power consumption, human capital, manageability, and scalability are all important in determining overall TCO.  Cloud storage has the promise to dramatically alter the cost / reliability paradigm but there is a lot to know about the architecture to which you hitch your horse.”
