Disciples of Tech: Petitions Google to remove Ripoffreport.com
Written by Steven Glover
Monday, 03 November 2008
Disciples of Tech is requesting that people take a look at their posting petitioning Google.com to remove Ripofftreport.com from Google's Search Engine Result pages.

Our Problem (Ripoffreport.com)

Ripoffreport.com provides a service to consumers that allow them to file reports on businesses that have not provided the consumer with the service or product that they believe they were to receive. Although this is a valuable service the policies that Ripoffreport.com have adopted in this endeavor are unjust, unfair, and in many cases have been manipulated as a form of exacting revenge by disgruntled employees, competitors, and a variety of other people that are not consumers of the reported businesses services or goods.

Ripoffreport.com has a strict non-removal policy, and charges businesses to have their negative reports turned into a "positive" report. Even if a post is legitimately proven to have been posted by a non-consumer the post will under no circumstances be removed. This is damaging to a businesses reputation, and especially egregious when the post can be proven to have been posted with false and damaging information.

Ripoffreport.com also uses a form of index spamming to ensure top listings from within google whenever a reported companies name is searched from within Google's Search Engine. These practices are clearly in violation with Google's very own Terms of Service (TOS) policy.

Our request (remove and ban ripoffreport.com)

At this time the undersigned are formally requesting that Google.com remove and ban all results linking to Ripoffreport.com from within their search pages until Ripoffreport.com ceases violation of Google.com's TOS, and they change their policies to help prevent the misuse of their reporting system to promote false inaccurate claims, as well as revenge posts.

We the undersigned ask you to sign our petition.

The petition can be located here:  Google Petition
