Car repair advice

Keeping your car looking fresh and feeling like new is easy with a little TLC. To keep your car looking good, you need to take care of the scuffs and scrapes, chips and dings as soon as they happen.

·         You can often remove scuffs and scrapes by hand. Carefully polish the scuff or scrape with a mild abrasive like T Cut.

·         Chips in your windscreen and dings in your bodywork caused by stone chips should be repaired by an expert. Some insurance companies offer to repair windscreen chips for free as part of your car insurance policy. Make sure you use a reputable repairer with a guarantee for larger scrapes that need repainting. Otherwise, it may affect your manufacturer’s paint warranty.

Looking after the inside of your car is just as important as the outside. And just like your home, your car needs a spring clean every now and then.

·         Use an upholstery cleaner for your interior. It contains a foam shampoo that avoids over-wetting, helps remove stale smells and provides some stain protection. Work the upholstery cleaner into the cloth with a stiff brush.

·         For sparkling, streak-free glass, use a special glass cleaner on both the inside and outside of your car windows.

·         For cleaning your leather or plastic dashboards and trim, there is a range of dash cleaners designed to clean and protect.
