Consumers looking for a cheaper way to enter the high definition video market may be interested in the latest release from Sharp.

The manufacturer's BD-HP20 Blu-ray player, which is currently retailing for around £250, offers a moderately-priced entry into the market while still providing home cinema fans a brand name they are familiar with.

According to a review for hdtvorg.co.uk, the BD-HP20 is as sleek and stylish as the manufacturer's Aquos LCD flat panel TV range while offering full high definition output so movie fans can enjoy the latest Blu-ray releases.

Sound quality is another area where the unit is highlighted, as it offers Dolby TrueHD sound that can make the most of a wide range of home cinema systems.

"If you haven't experienced this quality of sound before, be prepared for a cinematic experience in your own home," the review notes.

Blu-ray is one of two formats currently battling it out for the high definition home cinema market - the other format being HD DVD.
