London based Event Management Company Delpeche Events faced a race against time after being hired to organise ‘An evening with Iron Mike Tyson’ event in just four days.  Despite being established for just under a year, Delpeche Events received their ultimate challenge to date.

Christina Brewster, the founder and creative events manager was contacted on Friday 23^rd May 2008 by the promoter Ambrose Mendy requesting her expertise to fully event manage the function in time for Friday 30^th May 2008, which was just a week away.

“When I got the call I was extremely excited – but nervous at the same time.  With the limited time period and the large amount of work and effort required I wondered if I’d be able to pull everything off in time”

The brief was to organise a star studded champagne reception, followed by a 3 course dinner for 500 people which featured an auction and an after dinner Q & A session with the former Heavy Weight sporting legend Mike Tyson.

The only thing that had been pre-organised was the flyers advertising the event.  With it being a bank holiday weekend there was just 4 working days to source and organise caterers, audio visual and lighting specialist, staff, venue decor, auction memorabilia, graphic designers and entertainers.    

The result; Mike Tyson’s visit to Essex turned into the sort of celebrity event that might have been expected of a film star.  VIP guests included World snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan and commonwealth middleweight champion Darren Barker.   The evening went perfectly and was enjoyed by all.

“Mike was an absolute gentleman; he was gentle, caring and kind – so humble and softly spoken. It was a delight to meet and work with the legend Iron Mike Tyson” said Christina.

The event was a total knockout - Delpeche Events proved themselves to be the
undefeated champions!
