Knutsford Little Theatre present Dennis Potter’s Sufficient Carbohydrate at the theatre from 12th to 15th November. A British businessman and his American counterpart take a holiday with their wives on a Greek island. They are both employed by the same multi-national food processing company but from the start the holiday seems doomed to failure because they are at daggers drawn over company policy. The play explores the competitive relationship which develops between the two men. Barker, the older man, has allowed his family business to be taken over by the American-owned multi-national, Greenace. Vosper is his senior colleague is using the holliday to try get to the root of the problems in the board room. Sufficient Carbohydrate was Dennis Potter’s first stage play and uses the scenario to express his long-standing aversion to the inroads which global American commercial culture makes on other cultures and the effect of consumerism on relationships. The play is a drama that will keep audiences enthralled but there is also plenty of humour to make for an all round evening’s entertainment. The play is directed by the well respect Noel Cornes and features KLT regulars Sean Duval, Ali Hulford, Leslie Hornby, John Smith as well as new comer Damien Oakes. |
